To provide an account of how national educational assessment systems involving teacher assessment in schools are designed and the conditions that are in place to support assessment of attainment
We would like, through this piece of work, to reflect on a range of examples of international assessment systems and how they involve teachers in the assessment process. As a regulator of qualifications, our interest is in the summative assessments in each jurisdiction that contribute to qualification or ‘end-of-school’ certification outcomes that are used to decide what a learner can do next, as these best parallel the ‘high stakes’ nature of the uses of qualification results in the UK.
