This project aim is to increase the capacity of the railway corridor from two track to four track and this ground investigation will facilitate this. The proposed works within this specification will be split across on-track and off-track locations with the focus of the investigations at or close to:
 Existing trackbed;
 Existing/proposed overbridge and underpass structures;
 Proposed overhead line electrification structures; and,
 Existing earthworks and proposed retaining walls locations
The purpose of the ground investigation is to:
 Establish the ground conditions and geology;
 Identify in-situ ground parameters and carry out in-situ geotechnical testing
 Collect soil samples for geotechnical and geoenvironmental testing;
 Carry out non-intrusive geophysical investigation
